Sense really did not plan this out. She was expecting her clone (I assume the strongest clone is always assigned to protect the door) to be the final boss.

Just an assumption though that the strongest mage will be the final boss of the area. It's just that instead of Sense, it was Frieren.

Or maybe she was expecting Frieren to be cloned. She seemed pretty impressed by her barrier breaking and wants to follow her and Fern around.

Oh yeah there's that too. And given the fact that she said she wants to go with them since it feels like it will be the safest option.
